Its great giving a new lease of life to treasured family pieces and this vintage lampbase, belonging to Mel's grandmother is no exception. The brass base have lots of classic elements - claw feet and coloumn details and needed to be re-wired.

Gone in the traditional waisted shade with nylon fringe, replaced with a modern bonded shade in a stunning Romo Silk.

Window Display

Thought I would share my lastest window display, gorgeous Designers Guild wallpaper and fabric. Love the yellow, black and white combination, teamed with the charcoal bamboo chairs and some roses from the garden.

D'Espresso - NY

Came across this image in a "Cool Hunter" email and thought the interior of this Espresso bar was indeed cool

This coffee shop has been getting alot of media attention for its designers, the Manhattan-based nemaworkshop. They took the idea of a coffee shop that looks like a library – giving a nod to the nearby New York Public Library and turned it on its side. The walls are not lined with books but the floors and ceiling are. Except that it is all an illusion, a life-size image of books printed on custom tiles.

At home

Thought I would share some images of a table I have recently given a makeover. It was covered with a drak brown varnish, so after lots of stripper, it looks great. I have left the top natural and finished with beeswax and painted the base a white. Looks fresh and now takes pride of place in corner with some of my favorite things on display and flowers from the garden. Not bad for an Ebay bargin and lots of elbow grease.

Working on

Thought I would share a project that I have been working on with a wonderful client. She has endured the house being painted and new carpet being laid but finally, the exciting part has arrived. Those months of waiting are over as the furniture starts to arrive and everything, hallrunners, cushions and uphosltered furniture come together.
